Its an old method for setting the transmission, in previous GT games was performed something like this; final gear was set all the way right, then auto setting was enlarged and shorten at its max possibilities increasing engine response subtly, or at least that is the theory.
After that you have to set all gear individually trying to get the optimal sorting, this means the gaps inbetween have to be same on each. The final gear is left to last,its only used for top speeds depending on the track.
For GT5 the "auto" setting was replaced whit "top speed" but, i think the principles are about the same,long time i dont make any tune in this game so,my setups are outdated and most likely poors,my gearbox fixings are just quick ones
