Recent GTVault downtime Posted by Kerr 02/14/2014 12:19 PM
All - I apologize for the downtime experienced recently. I share a server with other websites, and my hosting provider had to restore the server from a recent backup. The web server was not configured as it was before, which caused GTVault to become inaccessible for at least the last 12 hours.

I'm working with my provider now, and it looks like we have the site running. You may experience slower than normal response as we work out further details. I apologize for the inconvenience.

GT6 in 2013. Is this the game we've been waiting 8 years for? Posted by Kerr 05/16/2013 11:18 AM
It's obvious I've not been a GT5 devotee, and I still feel largely the same as I did back in 2010.

That said, a friend of mine let me know that GT6 will be released for the 2013 holiday season.

A number of questions and thoughts come to mind.

  • Should we begin referring to GT5 as what it really is... GT 4.5 ?
  • Anyone want to take bets on a delayed release?
  • Are all 1,200 cars going to be "Premium", or should we expect 80% crap?
  • Should I expect major bugs and missing functionality (gear ratios) for six months after release?

D-Type Jaguar run around LeMans circa 1956 Updated by Kerr 03/24/2013 1:14 PM
Hey guys, check out this awesome video of Mike Hawthorn rolling around LeMans in 1956. This is pretty incredible video and audio quality for the time. Also check out the lack of restraints and protection as compared to today's race cars. These guys were complete badasses. I guess you had to be considering the mortality rate of racers back then.

The Dark Side Posted by Kerr 12/13/2012 8:58 PM
I don't talk about it much on here since this is a Gran Turismo related site, but I'm also a Forza fan. I've played all four proper Forza releases, and was interested in what the reaction to Forza Horizon might be. Anyone expecting a simulation is going to be disappointed, but that's never what Turn 10 was going for. I picked up a copy a few days ago and am about 75% done with the single player game. It most definitely has the arcade feel. You can upgrade cars with the usual parts, but no tuning of anything is available. The physics are not full-on Need For Speed arcade style, but definitely in the neighborhood. One cool thing carried over from the other Forza releases is engine swaps. For instance, I swapped the Lamborghini V12 Aventador engine into my 1987 Countach, which gave it life a couple vehicle classes above its norm.

Those things said, I'm enjoying playing through the game. For those with an Xbox 360 and some time, I definitely recommend Forza Horizon. And don't even think about paying retail. I paid less than $35 shipped from Amazon Marketplace.

Has anyone else been playing Forza Horizon?

Happy Thanksgiving Posted by Kerr 11/22/2012 11:34 AM
For those who celebrate it, I wish you a Happy Thanksgiving. We tend not to do it enough, and this is as good a time as any to reflect. My 2012 has been simultaneously chaotic and rewarding. I'm thankful to say things are looking up, and am especially thankful for good health. If you have time off to spend with family and friends, I hope you enjoy it!

Potential issue with GT Academy gift cars Posted by Kerr 07/11/2012 8:35 PM
MasterGT just posted about a potential issue with GT Academy gift cars disappearing from your game save. Read below for advice.

MasterGT wrote:
A new issue seems to happen around the GT Academy gift cars that means we need to be careful.

After receiving an Academy car, before you do anything else, make a fresh back-up copy of your progress file and keep it safe. The new problem is that, if your game freezes and you don't have a way to recover because of a broken game save, there doesn't seem to be a way to recover the lost Academy car, either.

This issue has been reported, but I may not be told of a different solution, so protect your saves now.

If anyone finds a solution to the missing cars, please let me know.

Back on track Posted by Kerr 03/31/2012 2:58 PM
Hey all, sorry I've not been around much lately. I have a new job now, and things are starting to (hopefully) settle down a bit. I haven't had any time for gaming, but I promised myself that I'd fire up the PS3 sometime this weekend... and then the best weather of the year hits, so now I think I'm going to clean up the garage and detail my car. I've been thinking a lot about the website and how to improve it. I have a lot of big ideas, now I just need to find the time to work on them. Hope everyone is doing well.

Still alive Posted by Kerr 02/25/2012 7:30 PM
Hello everyone, sorry I haven't been around much as of late. I have a heck of a lot going on in life right now, and haven't had any real "me" time. I'm see some new and familiar faces still posting setups. My hope is that life settles down here in the next few weeks. Maybe I'll even have some time to play GT5!

I haven't had a chance to look through posts for the past month or so. Please post a comment here if you have run into any issues using the site. Take care!
