This is the October edition of the GtVault challenges, where the theme will be lightwight british vehicles. 4 cylinders, less than 2 litre engine capacity, less than a 800kg, and less than 350hp, but there is still a lot of speed to play with. The two part challenge will see the use of the Caterham Seven at El Capitan normal, and the Lotus Elise 111S at Citta di Aria.
The Caterham will have almost full modification, only the supercharger is not allowed, nor is nitrous, and only up to S3 tires are allowed. The regidity, oil change, car wash are all allowed but not required.
The Elise will run at Citta di Aria (city courses) will be similarly tuned, (almost fully upgraded), using the stage 3 turbo option, S3 tires at the maximum and stage 3 weight reduction, but no wing may be applied. Again the regidity, oil change, car wash are all allowed but not required.
The rules are as normal, no wall contact, 2-wheels on the road/ripple strips at all times, and a tune is needed within 5 days of the end of the challenge, which is at 23:59 on the 31st of October (2010). No tune means no time. As always, have fun driving! StigsTC

BANNER
Updated 10/04/2010 1:40 AM Post a reply Quote this post View MarkusXO's info
Banner: This banner can be placed into your Signature area, to show your support and participation in the GTVault Tuner Competitions..This banner will change with each competition. YOU WILL NEED TO MAINTAIN THE BANNER CODE OR REMOVE IT WHEN YOU ARE NOT PARTICIPATING. This is important and simply means each competition you must update the code in your signature area for it. PLEASE don't just do it to look cool... Do it to support the GTVault Tuner Competitions.

IN SUMMARY: If you do not maintain the code, you are hurting the survival and existence of the GTVault Tuner Competitions...ACTIVELY

Thank You! Smirk

EDIT: Competition banner image will now be remaining the same for each challenge and the URL is to change.. This code can be posted by each host for each challenge..effective 10.04.10.. Have a great race!

Code:

[url=http://gtvault.com/gt4/setup-view/s_sid::8531/]
[img]http://tinyurl.com/3xcn3bm[/img][/url]

Example:

ALSO: I have a work around for waiting for the site to update to be able to edit the times or post.. it is simple...copy this url..

http://www.gtvault.com/gt4/post-form/parentid::8351/type::S/mode::edit/postid::XXXXX

Now get the number of the post that you want to edit.. ( this can be done by mousing over the quote button of the post and seeing the number in the status bar or url bar - wherever your program shows it ) and replace the XXXXX part with that number. For instance, if you wanted to edit this post, you would enter in the number 21182 making the url ..

http://www.gtvault.com/gt4/post-form/parentid::8351/type::S/mode::edit/postid::21182

Next it will take you to that post and you will be able to make the changes.. IF you are logged in, have the proper credentials, and cookies.. Now when you hit the 'Update Post' button.. it will flash to the same screen.. when you hit it the second time.. it will post the edit.. ALL DONE! Smile

Seems fun, but having to work will pay off in the end
Have fun while you race others. If you don't why are you racing in the first place?

Hi guys, haven't had a full comp to do in awhile but thought this would be fun. My time for the Catarham is 1'45.272 and the Elise is 1'34.742.

On a side note though I was watching the Bathurst 1000 today and all I want to say is, GO CRAIG LOWNDES!

I believe I should be ok for this comp. I have been try to save enough money for the F2007 in GT5P but I give up, too time consuming. Also I'm not 100% convinced that all of my car will make it to GT5...

Anywho let's see if I can keep up with you guys this month. I'm getting a new ISP later this month hopefully in time for GT5.

Hmmm GT5 gives me a sad thought that GT4 will be near dead on GtVault. I don't have a PS3 so I'll keep on working on new tunes to post up for GT4 here. Speaking of tunes I've actually been working on some for awhile now, so I'll be posting one up by next week after some finishing touches are made.

I doubt it will die. Heck I still GT1 and 2 still. I was playing it last night on the psp and my goodness I forgot how hard it was to get gold on some of the liecense tests. I'll honestly say I love going back and playing the old games but for some reason I couldn't go back to GT3 when GT4 just feels so right. GT 1 and 2 feel different yet there both great to go back too. Still my favorite GT of all time is GT2 unless GT5 changes my mind.

Hehe I still have my GT1 and GT2 on PS1. But how do you get it on the PSP?

Like you Brette I do not have a PS3 now and getting one for me at this time is going to be very hard. But PD has just delayed GT5 again and not new date has bin given other than this holiday season. A new date will be post by the end of October.

Now I have run the Lotus Elise 111S at Citta and it need more tuning.

PS3 remote play. I can play ps1 games on the psp thru the PS3. Its like using the PSP as a controller. It's fun but has a .1 second of lag with input so driving is a little harder than normal.

Hello Stigs!

I've recently completed my 2010 karting campaign with 6 wins in 9 starts and the season championship. An average of 12.3 karts started each (45 minute) race in my class. I'm very thrilled and satisfied about my best season ever in karting.

My G25 has been sitting broken and silent for several months. So now I've just bought a G27 and started up with GT4 tuning and racing again.

Do you boys ever do these tuning competitions at the Nurburgring? If so, I'd like to do one. My last few setups have been for the 4 Hours of Endurance at the Nurburgring. I've mostly been tuning for tire wear and handling comfort, and finding high A-spec lineups hidden in the game.

It would be fun to do something a little different for a change, but do it at the Nurburgring, my favorite track. What do you think about a contest of maybe 4 or 5 laps in order to add the factor of tire wear into the race, and also the possibility of a pitstop?

Respectfully yours,
Dotini

Hello Dotini, it's been far too long!

First of all congratulations on (another) successful karting campaign, its good to hear that your year has been productive and by the sounds of things enjoyable. 45 minute races do seem rather long, a rather tough test.

Well, in the past we've run at the Nurburgring, but with LMP and GT1 cars, in a championship style challenge, where tires were actually a factor, as we ran the family cup, as well as trying to manage tire points, which was decided by the host back in June.
We've also used races as parts of a challenge; the (J) GT300 competition used the 7 lap JGTC race at Laguna Seca. This sort of thing may happen, but it s up to the winner to host and choose, however I'm confident DjWess would be right behind you in wanting a Nurburgring based challenge.

Anyway, its great to hear from you again,
StigsTC

My tunes are going to come in a bit late....
Haven't been able to write down my setup in time so I'll try and write it down this weekend.
Though I do know that with my Catarham I ran with a stock suspension and I think no LSD.
Also my Elise was running a spring rate of around 5.0 Front 7.0 Rear. Sorry if it'l be posted late.
