My First Setup
Updated 06/21/2004 5:01 PM Post a reply Quote this post View rj_olifer's info
Won it at super speedway endurance, bought the NA stage 2 upgrade, changed the oil, and went on racing.

May need to raise the Brake Balance a bit, but, in spite of being a FR, I've managed to almost eliminate that loose rear.

there was some problem with the gears:

1st-3.000
2nd-2.163
3rd-1.605
4th-1.182
5th-0.938
6th-0.813
Final-3.800

T5 tires - for disabled tire wear
T3 tires - for enabled tire wear races

my first setup published here, please try it out and coment.

THANKS, rj_olifer

If the car is in the game you will find at least one setup for it here.

I have not tried the setup yet but you should try to turn the ASM off. I understand that this will cause the rear to slip in tight turns, and I am sure that is what you are trying to get rid of. Many people here will tell you that ASM is bad and I agree that it is, for the same reasons you will always hear; i.e. it takes away too much power and it causes too many problems with the handling. I am not trying to promote ASM but if you like it I can't see a reason to stop using it. You should be able to continue winning races as the AI is not all that hard, however if you want real driving enjoyment from your setups and your cars you should try to get used to not having it on and to using the Manual Transmission. Trust me it will be like getting a new game all over if you do both of these, Just ask hal2000.

Gee!

Thanks dadthewheel, I raced with my fully tuned mazda rx-8 without ASM and using manual transmission an dit felt really great!

Although even with auto transmission I was already able to drive the car to its red line limit by pressing R2 or L2, now, using my steering wheel and my clutches, I have more control of the car and its power.

Once again, thanks Dadthewheel.

Here goes a little piece of advice based on an advice given to me and on my following experiments:

raise front brake to 12 and rear to 14

raise downforce to 0.84 on front and to 1.21 on the rear

put ASM at 0 and TCS at 2

Understandably the game developers could not mimic the traits of automatic and manual transmission precisely. If they had it would have killed most of there market as many gamers do not or can not use a clutch. To bad, I would have loved popping the clutch and feeling something like an MX-5 or even this beast (the C5R) burn free of the line. Still I have to take my hat off to them, at least they allow for greater control over the cars than straight automatic can get without holding down the shift buttons; and if you are going to hold them down why not just use manual?

C5R Feedback

I just attempted the Pro GT All Stars series with the C5R. After the 15 lap Test Course race the HP drop made it real hard to keep up with the Nissan R390 GT1 LM Race Car that dominates that series. I managed the earlier races, Laguna Seca, Dark Forrest, and Mid Field with the Stage 1(754hp) setting but had to go to the Stage 2(1032hp) setting for the Test Course and onward.

As for tires, T3 front / T4 back does the trick for most of the 1:10ish per lap tracks, and T2 front / T3 back for the 1:45ish per lap track such as Appricot Hill, 246, etc.

The car has it goin' on when its fresh,.............. but, the car handles like mudd until the tires come in,........... and when it gets tired it just doesn't have the juice for the Nissan.

Gotta pick a new car to go try it agian............... and again,........ and again,........ Love this game!!!!!!!
