Fast, handles great, but still a Ford.
Turns like on rails but a controlled drift can be induced when you pour the power on at the right moment in the turn.

Thanks,
it's a nice car to drive, like you said, smooth.
I'm more of a Holden fan though.

Well Holdens aren't in GT3 for a reason. :P

New Falcon is one weapon of a machine...... An XR6 Turbo totaly ate a clubbie 255 for breakfast the other day, and the HSV had the jump :o

Lawsy,

Until recently I would have disagreed with you about Falcons.

Finally, Ford Australia have pulled their heads out. The new falcons can compete power wise and are even starting to look good. It's taken long enough for Ford to realise they have to do something to curb the loss in sales to Holden.

Heh, i now allot about my Fords mate.
Motor and wheels (you're obviously an Australian right, so you should know these mags??) have always said the falcon handled better than the commodore, and don't forget the EL falcon was a great success, and over the 3 year period, sold about 5% more than the bombodore ( :P ). It was the AU and the AU Falcon aloen that was the flop. It was just one big limp shlong =/
BA Falcon is sure to turn things around, because now looks are not the issue, the quality and engeneering thats in the new falcon finaly will shine, because no longer do Journo's have an excuse to nit pick just because "it looks bad, so everythign else is bad"

Lets wait and see shall we Big Grin

Keep up the good work.

Haha, no Holdens now, but maybe in the next GT.
A few HSVs wouldn't go unnoticed.

Great Setup
Posted 02/06/2003 8:34 AM Post a reply Quote this post View 69Z28SS's info
Very good setup. Great job.

I'd love to see some of your setups for the American Monsters. The Mustang, the Camaro, and Corvette. I printed out your setup for the Viper, and I'll give it a try, but I'd like to see how you handle the Tail-Happy Vette, Camaro, and Mustang. Your setups match really well with my driving style, and I've been learning a lot on how to tune the car from you. I've managed to get a Camaro SS down in the 1:21 range at Apricot, but would like to see what you can do with one.

Thanks for the great setups.

Ford falcon

nice set up, clean smooth and easy to drive. but i still think this car needs to go on a diet, it's heavy and lumbering, doesn't feel like v8 in it.

I used to work at a ford dealership, I'm in america. I once showed the Aussie fords to all the so called, "ford experts" that i worked with, yu should have seen thier jaws drop when they saw the layout and specs on those cars. They wondered why ford is holding them back from the US market.

BTW the Manaro is the new GTO, and i'm a registed user at the holden website (USAHoldernfan). Infact i was just watching th V8 super cars on The Speed Channel last night. "HOLDEN WINS FIVE IN A ROW" yes we are a bit behind on the coverage. GLad to see the holdens (not to meantion the Vauxhalls) are goint ot be in GT4. looks like a V8 supercar shootout is going to be online, too bad we'll all probably be using Fumes setups!! (it's a good thing though)

turn in
Posted 03/24/2004 6:45 PM Post a reply Quote this post View camgz32's info
Fumes, How can i get the falken to turn in better? I seem to have a hard time geting the car to turn in to hit the apex of the turn. the car seams to not want to turn in and push me out to the wall. what would you suggest i do either with the car set up or with my driving to fix this?

Thanks for your input

You are using my setup here right? Just so we have a refence when talking setup changes.

Setup -
First thing you can try is increase front spring rates to 16.8.

Driving style-
Also try changing driving style to not brake too late. If you find yourself still braking while having to turn into the corner, that's too late. Adapt your driving style so that your braking is done and your speed is at a point where you can turn into the corner without brakes. And as you hit the apex of the corner (middle of corner), start accelerating slowly.

Running with setups
Updated 05/19/2004 10:30 PM Post a reply Quote this post View gdubbs's info
I am reletively new to GT3 (only 23%). Thought it was time to experiment with setups. Tried a few adjustments of my own. Although simple, they helped. Then tried yours. Oh... My...Gosh!!! Immediately dropped 2 seconds off Laguna time. Ok...it did take a few laps to get used to no ASM. Thank you for helping me into the world of setups. One question...what is a fast Tickford Laguna time? I think I saw a 1:09 posted somewhere, but I am not sure. If this is the case, I need to drop 6 seconds off my time, and am truely humbled. (Have not had time to hook up my wheel and try...that might help).
