It's my B-day!

Hey folks, I turned 29 yesterday. I would've posted last night but I was out getting wasted! Anyway, I have uncharacteristically not purchased much computer equipment in the past 2 years or so. My old 19" CRT monitor was starting to get out of focus to the point where I got headaches after looking at it for 10 minutes.

I'd been looking at LCD monitors for some time but never purchased one because the response times were never acceptable for playing games. A new generation of screens with 16ms response times is now on the market. After much research, I decided to go with a ViewSonic VP171s. I had to drive all the way across town to find one, but it was worth it. I fell in love with the colors, clarity and contrast immediately after I hooked it up. Plus it takes almost no desktop space to boot!

Here is a picture of my new toy. For those of you who are interested, I do a lot of my research for computer equipment at a few sites:

Tom's Hardware
[H]ard|OCP
arstechnica
Designtechnica

In particular, there was a 17" LCD roundup over at Tom's Hardware that influenced my buying decision. Next up is a Logitech Cordless MX Duo. I'm going over to my Dad's today to celebrate my birthday, and will hopefully be receiving some Best Buy gift cards to ease the pain. Smile

Cheers!

and enjoythe monitor. Ive been thinking about replacing my takes-too-much deskspace 19" Hitachi CRT for a slim LCD myself. Thanks for the tip Oh, and Ive been using the Logi mx700 mouse since it came out. Very nice for web browsing and gaming.

PipSqueek - I went ahead and purchased the Logitech MX Duo a few days after my original post. Both mouse and keyboard are amazing. I also have the original Cordless Elite Duo, and the MX version blows it away.

First happy belated birthday, 29 now... HA-HA-HA, man do I feel old...

I needed that info before I bought my LCD. A Sceptre X9, it is not all that bad at 19 inches but gees. I am happy to hear that you got a better one than I did.

My bad Kerr, did I step out of lines? I was just joking but I see my comment got edited. Hay sorry about that but nothing was intended by it, just some light humor. I hope I did not offend you???

Edited in: Wait, I censored myself; I used the > key and it's opposite. Oh well, it was not funny enough to edit back into the post, learned something new about this site today though.

Dadthewheel -- yes the site today strips out all html tags. This may change sometime in the future to allow text markup like bold and italics as well as links.

That would be nice so that we could add a little feeling to our statements. But I would keep the font size set to avoid the occasional nut that wants to use an entire page in Times New Roman 72. Know what I mean?
