Thanks Stig for that info. I finished up the Ferrari seasonal event last night and took a look at the Holiday. It looked pretty intimidating, and I had some beer in me so I called it a night. Your tips will prove useful.

The double rewards DOES IN FACT stack on top of your sign in bonus. So say you had a 200% sign-in bonus, add another 200% to it if you're doing seasonal races. Example, A-spec 4 Nurburgring race is now 1mil thanks to double rewards. Because you have a 200% sign in bonus, it is now 2mil you're making per race!

New tuning challenge just popped up in my head
Posted 12/21/2012 2:42 AM Post a reply Quote this post View DjWess's info
Yes you heard right, tuning challenges are back but with some new rules added here and there.

But first I'll talk prizes.
1st place: lvl 23 ticket, random color pick, and rights to host next challenge
2nd place: 1000 car ticket and a random color pick
3rd place: lvl 10 or lower car (under $1,000,000) and a random color pick
Please allow 1-4 days for prizes to be dispersed

Old rules:
None of the following things are allowed
-wall riding
-shortcuts
-illegal use of parts (parts illegal in the challenge)

New Rules:
-You can set up a lobby/lounge online to the specified challenge (Must turn penalties to max possible though)
-No bumping/ramming other players if there are more in the lobby. If this certain rule is broken consider yourself banned from the current challenge if it's a first time offence. 2nd time you're banned from future challenges
-If possible, post on YouTube your fastest lap replay or upload a copy of your replay in a compressed folder with your psn name on it

Any thoughts?

I may be able to participate in the challenge. Just one thing, how do you copy a replay from the PS3 to computer?

1.) Save the replay like you normally do in GT5
2.) go under replays -> select the replay you want -> import to xmb
3.)Under the file saves for ps3 look for your replay and copy iit to a flash drive
4.) Upload onto your computer

I hope to get this "Blackmagic Intensity Pro" card for the computer to record what is done...

alternately there are external ones but IF you want to record through the HDMI, beware, it WONT be true HDMI cause it has to go through a converter first

@Draghon
Race 1:
I used a Woodone Supra that didn't really have a setup
Race 2:
I used my McLaren F1 at 980kg and 450hp also no proper setup.
Race 3:
Audi R8 Playstation version again without a proper setup

Time at nord was 7:38 with massive burnouts and caution for high speed stuff.

@DjWess
The sign in bonus stacks on the double rewards, but the sign in bonus does not have any effect on the PP adjustment.
My favourite race is the Ferrari Formula challenge, taking a 750PP F10 to the Eifel race, making 4 mil on PP bonus, and nearly 5 overall. With double rewards its now worth 10mil for 12 mins of work.
My full schedule B-spec guide and setups to the FGT (GT4)

100% all gold in GT4, GT5 and GT6. At last.

You could just e-mail me your saved gt5 replay in a folder from a flash drive versus having to actually upload it to YouTube. But YouTube is better. Looks like I'm buying a capture card later on.

Speaking of other games, I pre-ordered Resident Evil 6 from GameStop and when it came out I didn't have the money to get it so I waited and waited till my Birthday when I knew my parents would give me money. I went to the store and said I had pre-ordered the game and they said that I was lucky to pick it up now cause it was on sale for $40 so I shelled out +the $5 down I paid something like $43.49

I have tried the Forza 4 game, but like you said, don't expect it to be like the GT Series. I just know that I paid about $20 for my GT5 and that was by waiting and selling GT-Prologue for about the same price (odd huh). Anyway, the biggest thing to like about Forza is what you mentioned about swapping out Motors & I agree that it is similar to need for speed, except for Story line. So, I did not click with Forza in the 2 hours I played it, even though I advanced at a normal rate. Now that my Son got a new Xbox after he waited for Christmas since his died w/ the red light of death, but luckily we bought it refurbished on Ebay for $99 and I said he couldn't get that 1 unless we bought the Insurance. 9 Months later it dies and what do you know, He gets his $99 back, but decided to wait and get a new one. Well, we bought a package deal from Amazon for $250 & it came with Skyrim & Forza and the new Black Ops game. So, I will get a chance to play for much longer verseS my Library checkout. However this time I will look at it as though I'm not playing a GT5 competitor, just a regular racing game that does not have that replay-ability level that the GT Series is known for.

Gran Turismo outshines any other racer game in that I have had my copy since 3 months after it was released & I keep playing it even though I have finished all the normal Events. The reason for this is that GT-5 puts out new Online Events about once every week or 2 and that alone impresses me for a Company that is getting nothing back for that, other then a Lifelong Fan. Shoot, I still do not have all the Cars from the Dealerships yet, just because My Money has all gone to old car upgrades & I have gone through and bought all the used cars.

Now there are other Events that should suck in all Race Game fans, such as the Free Summer Contest that allows for anyone to compete for a chance to Drive for the GT Team & then there is the current Holiday Events which are as hard to win as any other race I have faced other then the formulas (I am just too old to drive that fast).

Hands down, GT-5 is the game for me all the way! Thumbs Up

Merry Christmas Everyone.
Below is part of a reply post, but this is relative to the Holiday 2012 Event some other stuff.

Can anyone tell me how to add a new post, as I am unable to do anything but reply to existing posts?
Thx

If you're a Burnout fan in general, Paradise is a good installment in the series. It was one of the earliest driving games I can recall that is open-world based.

Don't forget Need For Speed underground 2 and its free roam capabilities.

Tokyo Xtreme Racer was an even earlier open-world racer since it was released back when the Dreamcast first came out. The TXR series is so underrated compared to NFS, still play the games on my PS2.

Just got a new sound system
Updated 01/02/2013 10:51 AM Post a reply Quote this post View Draghon's info
This info here is for anyone who wants to know the setup...
I just got a 5.1 RCA RT2911 Surround Sound Setup...
After much, much, much searching on the net, I have concluded that the best audio setup for surround IS HDMI + Linear PCM... The problem is, when you setup the PS3 for HDMI it wont select Linear by default, it will try to use Dolby, so what you have to do is, go to Sound Settings then select HDMI, then MANUAL, then Linear 5.1 48 mHz (I originally selected multiple and I got a message saying if the speaker isn't supported by it, it may break the speaker) I limited my add-ons to the 5.1 versions of the Linear Greyed out 2 channel versions, one being the 48 mHz, and didn't get any messages in the process. Now my GT5 reads "Linear PCM 5.1 48mHz" or something like that. I can REALLY tell the difference now, the music is more echoey (that's the best I can describe) but in a good way, I can definitely tell whether I hit the car in the rear right tire vs the front right.

Update 1: It doesn't seem that the Linear works properly with the 5.1 on videos, the voices on this movie (Gundam Wing: Endless Waltz) and to music seem to be reversed, you can barely hear the voices but the music is fine, though there are points where the voices are perfect but that's when the person is actually not on screen but all this is probably cause the option I selected on the Movie (not the PS3) is Dolby 5.1.. Switched to Bit, and the sound is OK but it doesn't seem to keep it's volume very even... My games on Linear however are awesome, I can hear things basically in 3D... Maybe I'll swap over to Dolby on the PS3 to watch movies... but I hardly watch movies anyway, this was just a test...

Update 2: Swapped to Linear but with Dolby and it seems to be better but Dolby and Digital is best for this movie. I question though the Fluidity of the 5.1 on Digital, is it true Surround or just upscaled? I will have to find my CD player cleaning disc which has a surround tester...

Update 3: it seems that the Dolby is indeed 5.1 according to my Alsop CD player cleaner, just interesting how different linear is from bit in both straight linear and Dolby alike...

(I tried to quote your top post, but it quoted another member's post.)

I don't have an XBox, but there is a new sim coming the console way, this year, and this has me very excited. Right now, the PC dev version is able to be bought and played, even on-line, and there is some sort of compensation for buying into it now, so console owners can still benefit from the arrangement, later.

http://www.wmdportal.com/projects/cars/

Project CARS comes from the people who put Shift together, but this is much, much improved. WMD is going to be putting incredible pressure on PD to make GT6 so much better!

Happy New Year, everyone! If you want to race with me, please click here.
Cheers,

I have noticed all the GT500 class cars have added "(SUPER GT)" to the names, I did a search on here and there is nothing that has (SUPER GT)

Also, you need to add the HONDA WEIDER HSV=010 (SUPER GT) '11 to the car list...
in racing it's listed lowercase........weider
And while you get on that, just a friendly reminder, add the Drive Shaft option please...
