The GT5 Update, Having to re-tune the majority of the garage
Posted 10/01/2012 11:10 AM Post a reply Quote this post View DjWess's info
Well with the reset of the physics for the suspension, aerodynamics, and tire life for endurance races on all of the cars, this had my whole garage in need of tuning again (which I know cars are in need of retuning here and there). Knowing everyone else was affected, it comes down to if the person is willing to re-tune all of their favorite cars. I know for a fact that ALL OF MY TUNES IS NOTHING BUT BS NOW Mad ! But I might as well take this opportunity to go back and re-tune cars but with my classes of dynamics, statics, physics, and the knowledge of X-million tuning guides by my side for additional help. So this is the time to remake all tunes again, what a way to bring life back to the game Kaz Thumbs Up .

Tell me, in what way are the tunes bad now? looser, tighter, I am not understanding the difference. I do know that I drove the new Subie and it felt good with stock (well stock settings for full) suspension.

I haven't tried driving any other car since the upgrade. so I don't know what the difference is. I know it says longer tire wear on enduro, but is it also fixed for non enduro?

For non-endos, I'm guessing no. It's really a mixed bag. I noticed my NISMO GT-R LM Road Going had a lot more grip on sports soft now versus 2 weeks back. I think only the tuner can tell the differences on their cars only. Also what I meat by bad, I should have said I do not know if most of my tunes might not work (not that any of them worked anyways Disgusted ) so now this is the chance to re-tune most cars from this very confusing update.
Amount of air resistance change when altering aerodynamic wing settings has been increased.
Cool I understand that but uh:
Adjusted the changes in control characteristic when altering vehicle height from standard height. (Vehicle height can be changed by adjusting ride height, either by installing a suspension kit or adjusting a full customizable suspension kit.)
This is the one many people are confused with. BTW all of this was pulled from gtplanet.net.
Some people claim to see it others really don't. I have seen this on some 3 cars so far with the update taking effect. But out of 15 cars I only notice 4 of them affected so far.
This update as I said before is a mixed bag of confusion everywhere.
Let me know if you notice something because I'm picking up on some things. I'll try the endurance races this weekend during the FLEX and endurance series I'm in on GTPlanet.

Just bought the 3 (well I had 2 more to dl) DLC cars, the GT-R in my opinion, not worth it... A race car with no aero adjustments is as useful as a screen door on a submarine... the only redeeming quality that I see in it is that it is Left hand drive and starts out as a 550pp car... there are few choices on the upgrades and I have noticed that when you do upgrade now the settings stay the same more or less... the diff upgrade is the same, and the suspension was the same minus the shocks which go from 1-1 to 5-7 5-7 or something oh and front sway goes from 1 to 3... next to see is the Honda... BTW, if you didn't get the scion cause it's... well... a Scion (Like I bought it but didn't want to really) get the Subie, it's the same car...

No comment on how many posts I just made....! (cough 420 cough)

In my test, the Honda, fully powered, is 1 second slower than the GTR (at 550PP) from the DLC cars however, the Honda lasts WAY longer than the GTR in an enduro

I noticed 2 things now, WHY THE F*** IS THE CORVETTE ZR1 RM SPEEDO IN KPH?!
and on the new Honda DLC car has a huge diagonal bar going across the screen dead center in the cockpit view, blocking any car that is in front...

little tidbits of info

I am using the enduro on Laguna Seca to get the extra HP on my cars, I noticed something about the GTO, Cobra R, and the Mustang GT... 1st and foremost, the Pontiac GTO starts in 1st, ends in 9th, the Mustang Cobra R runs 6th and drops to 8th, and the Mustang GT '05 ends somewhere between 10th and 12th...

I asked my forum buddies at AllFordMustangs.com if the Cobra could really beat a GTO, they confirmed its a yes, but I have my reservations about the placing of the GT '05 I think it's the 1st half '05 with the '04 motor, the one just before the Coyote Engine, can anyone confirm this? if it is the Coyote Engine, then the GT should win over the GTO as well...

This is the response...

http://www.allfordmustangs.com/forums/svt-cobra-talk/359972-serious-question-bout-00-svt-vs-04-5-7-gto.html

In real life, a 5.7 L GTO is no faster than an 05-09 Mustang GT. With similar mods (CAI, Tune) back in 2006, I was able to continuously take the win against a fellow 5.7L GTO on the drag strip. Put them on a road course and the GTO's softer handling and heavier body should allow an S197 to pull away as well.

So now your comparison should be between the S197 GT and the 04 SVT. If you contend the SVT will be faster still than the S197 (certainly on the drag strip and maybe also on a road course), then it will be faster then the 5.7 GTO.

Now, what I don't recall is if the 05 GTO was. 5.7L like the 2004 model or if it was the 6.0L engine like I know the 06 GTO had.

05-10 GT: 4.6L SOHC 3v (Single Over Head Cam, 3 valves per cylinder).
2011+ Coyote: 5.0 Ti-VCT DOHC 4v (Twin independent-Variable Camshaft Timing and Dual Over Head Cam, 4 valves per cylinder)

And yes the limited (only 300 were built and only sold to those with a competition license) 2000 Cobra R had a N/A 5.4L DOHC 4v with an estimated 385 horsepower and torque. Stock to stock, this would eat an 04 GTO. The 2011-up GTs that produce 412 horsepower (420 for 2013 models) will also smoke an 04 GTO. Lastly, between a GTO and a 05-10 GT, in my opinion it would be a drivers race considering the larger amount of power of the GTO vs the lighter weight, better handling of the mustang.

I just realized there are 2 vehicles (you'll see why I say vehicles, so you can classify them as you wish) that should have been in this series since the 1st GT, The Rancharo and the El Camino...

The new Scion/Subaru/Toyota platform is an interesting place to start experimenting.

Using the different suspension packages, take pictures of the default settings from the side, to see any differences.

How does each car feel with similar weights and power, with each package, adjusted or default?

I guess the big question is whether the settings do what is expected when changed. Have they unquestionably made ride height and weight-shift / grip work as expected, or is it still wishy-washy (possibly reversed)? And so on.
Cheers,

MasterGT

Are you stating what you are doing, or just asking?

What I think Kerr should do, if the cars are really the exact same is link them to each other so we can maximize the tunes and not take up more space with separate links...

The site does need to be refined, the problem is, Kerr doesn't have the time anymore to deal with all the stuff that needs to be addressed... I would suggest handing the reigns over to someone who does, but then it's hard to trust people with stuff these days... I would also suggest that you could ask my brother-in-law (who has his own server) to help, he is honest and keep things confidential, but again, it might cost you money for his services... everything is a double edge sword...

My brother-in-law is a gamer as well (not really for car games) plus if you go that route, I could ask and maybe he will do it for less, however, again, I don't think Kerr is at that point of asking for help...

I have noticed a problem with the graphics of the game. Lately I have noticed that the graphics seem to be more of that of GT4 than a GT5 supposed quality. Pixels and shading missing, screen looks grainy, cars not looking as smooth as they should be, stuff like that, but mostly when in B-spec when I can actually pay attention to it...

I'm going to be offline for a while, mostly cause of my slow internet again (I used my 5GB of the 5GB of data I have for my phone), but also cause I'm playing my Sims 3 Ambitions game.

P.S. if anyone wants to add me on there, hit me up on here... I can send you a house that is modeled after the house I grew up in...

I'm sure most of you know this, but a camouflaged C7 'Vette has been spotted in GT5:
