Gran Turismo 5 Setup Form
Posted 12/10/2011 10:18 AM Post a reply Quote this post View Kerr's info
I've been considering some changes to the Gran Turismo 5 Setup Form and wanted to get your feedback. First off, how many people use the "Collapse" view of the setup? I use it almost exclusively. With that in mind, some sections are mostly blank since they don't have a lot of content. I've thought about combining some sections like:

  • General and Track & Performance
  • Engine, Intake, Exhaust and Turbo Kits
  • Suspension, Brakes and Tires

This would reduce the number of times you have to change tabs in the collapsed view.
The downside is that I designed the Setup Form to exactly match the sections used within Gran Turismo 5. So making these changes would break that logic. Thoughts?

I don't use the collapse view, I like it all drawn out that way I don't have to click, click, click, click, click, click..........................

It's faster to scroll than to click and wait for the page to refresh... Only thing I can see being changed right away is the search box takes you to your own tunes if any and wont let you create new tunes, meaning I have to take the long way to get to the part where I can tune

Clicking GT Car List, browse for the make, browse for the model, then click on tune..................

I propose that we sign a petition for more wings , more specifically ones that "flow" with the lines of hatchbacks, not many of the hatches have decent looking wings...

on second thought, more US cars period, too. It's really sad that there are more versions of Skylines then there are of US muscle combined...

Any updates on your thoughts of the setup list?

You're going to have the best chance of being heard re: your wing request here - http://feedback.gtplanet.net/forums/96709-gt5-feedback

We've already talked at length about the Setup list and the extra icon vs. space. There are at least two more direct ways of getting where you want to be. Explore.

I don't mind the collapse view. Makes everything so much easier for me.

It's good people are making use of both styles. I think I'll leave the setup details page as it is.

This may have been partially because the voting button wasn't prominent in the GT5 setup details. I recently made a dedicated button at the top, and some more votes started coming in.

I forgot to address this, but I don't understand what you're talking about with waiting for page refreshes. The collapsed view is just that. There are no extra page refreshes involved, just a different format of what's already there.

oh, well, what my point is I like just using the wheel on the mouse to scroll through the list rather than clicking... HOWEVER, that is just viewing the tunes, while editing the tunes, I don't mind the collapse view being present...

OH, I forgot to mention, the reason I didn't sign up to GTPlanet is cause this site is easier to navigate, which I like. I did however Sign up to GTPlanet under the same name "Draghon" and posted the topic I mentioned earlier...

Same thing on GTPlanet DjWess

I don't mind collapse view being present at all. It'll reduce the time it takes to scroll down like Draghon said

Well, what I was actually saying is that for the actual editing of the cars it's ok to have, but I still don't use it. For use in just viewing, its ok for if you need just 1 section that you are looking for such as a gear setup. It does save on scrolling for people who use tablets and laptops, but for me, using a desktop and a mouse with a scroll wheel on it, it is easier, faster, and all around better imho than clicking. As for combining sections, I don't know, I'd like to see the General, Track and Performance as 1 section, maybe even have track between the ID# and Tuner. "Driving Options" I always tune after the whole setup section, so scrolling back up to this part is an itsy bitsy annoyance, but tolerable. Anyone else do this? I guess "Engine", to "Turbo" could all be one section just for looks, you have all these (from my screen res) 3" sections on top and bottom of these 1ish" sections that could be combined into a 3-4"er. other than that it looks great and nothing NEEDS to be fixed.

The Model Year is largely redundant in GT5, so I may move the entire Track & Performance section to where that line currently resides. I do like how the rest of the sections map directly to areas in the GT interface, so I think I'll leave those alone.

The consolidation of Track & Performance into the General section is in place. It was a pretty simple change, but helps with the layout a bit.

Cloning
Posted 12/16/2011 12:27 AM Post a reply Quote this post View Draghon's info
Have you posted a walkthrough how to clone stuff on GT5? if not, may I be so bold in asking for you to do so, so I can link people. I'm getting tired of explaining it, it's like 10+ steps but once you have it down it'll only take a minute to get it all done Smile

How to clone something on GT5
Updated 12/16/2011 2:40 AM Post a reply Quote this post View Draghon's info
Things you need before attempting:

1. 1 or 2 USB, SD, or some sort of external drive to save on

2. 2 accounts (Registered PSN Names), preferably your own as Friends are not 100% reliable
[Ex. My main name is DraghonCiege which I will refer to as 1st PSN, I sent the Paint to my secondary name ClaytonMorin which I will refer to as 2nd PSN]

3. The item you want to clone of course...

Steps: (assuming you have only one USB drive card)

1. Send desired item (Paint, Suits, Helmets, Horns, and/or Car*) to the 2nd PSN or the one you aren't going to use the item on.

2. Log onto the game on the 2nd PSN you just sent the item to

3. Retrieve the item(s) from the community gifts section

4. Save game (I manually save as I don't trust the auto save for this)

5. Log out of game

6. Go to the "Save Data Utility (PS3ô)" and select the GT5 data with /\ (Triangle)

7. "Copy" data to the USB drive

8. Go back into the 2nd PSN GT5 game and send wanted "item(s)" to 1st PSN

9. Log out of game and go back to "Save Data Utility (PS3ô)" still under the 2nd PSN

10. This time go into the USB card, which will be one of the top most icons, and select the GT5 data there with /\ (Triangle)

11. "Copy" that back to the 2nd PSN PS3 account

12. Rinse and repeat steps 8, 9, 10 and 11 for more items...

* You may only send 5 each of each item and only 1 car per day, or as I have confirmed 22 hours (Correction, I have sent 16 suits and 8 helmets, but it's been a few months since I traded any, maybe they roll over the trade item count)

Whew........... tons of typing....... but the process only takes less than 5 minutes

Added Tip on 1st selection of car...
Updated 12/16/2011 2:42 AM Post a reply Quote this post View Draghon's info
1st and foremost create your 1st B-Spec driver, then share him/her online, go to a second account or get a friend to run your B-spec guy in the Online Racing about 3 or more times, or until you have the money to buy the car you want, collect your money an buy that over powered car for the beginner's races lol. now you can have that Cuda, or Cobra SVT, or Skyline you always wanted to start with, and the best thing about it, it wont progress the days by, so now you can gloat to your friends that you just bought all the day 1 cars lol

BTW thank you, Kerr, looks like you changed the behavior of the search box...

Thanks, I'll add a new Knowledge Base post with this information soon.

The cash adds up slow with the B-spec technique, but it would allow one to collect all the cars given enough time. It took me quite awhile, but I was spamming A-spec with the X2010 rubber band technique on Indy.

Not sure on the search box, but if it's working better you may have previously had an old cached copy of the script that runs it.

Keep it in ticket form
Posted 12/18/2011 8:37 PM Post a reply Quote this post View DjWess's info
Most Impotently, Keep it in ticket form, for example, try sending over a X2011 Car over in your garage. it won't work. However keep it in ticket form it should work.
