Happy New Year!
Well there goes a decade! I'd like to wish everyone a Happy New Year, and I hope your 2010 is a great one.
This year will mark the release of another major game in the GT franchise, and as we all know, that's a rare event! This also means some potentially big changes for GTVault. The version of GTVault that is in use today was launched in August 2005, just after the release of GT4. The Internet in general, and socially driven sites in particular, have changed so much since then. I have to put a lot of thought and planning into the direction of GTVault, and I want to make it a place that you enjoy in the coming decade as much as you did the last. So, I ask this of everyone:
What do you want out of GTVault in 2010 and beyond?

My Two Cents...
Happy New Year Kerr! This is a great site with the most and the best a webpage has to offer. I know with all the people on here from the US and around the world you are going to get the best the world has to offer. Now myself I don't see how you can beat perfection, because when I look at other sites there are on GT4 nothing compares...nothing! Now maybe I am being a bit prejudice because I really like this site and don't see how it could be any better....but then who am I to say? Keep an open mind and learn from others, so anyway that's my two cents worth. Thanks for the most comprehensive and informitive GT site out there.
EDIT: Yeah, I'd have to agree with MarkusXO new colors and GT5 posting. Maybe a general forum area for posting not just on each car. I really like the competitions idea too cause if someone new shows up or just crising through if they don't know where to look it is not easy to find, I just lucked up and found it one day.

You know thats a good question..I love the site so with what I am going to say or I am about state has nothing to do with problems..
I think that the site could use a good face-lift. Maybe some new colors, new images and icons, maybe even something that would take it into a 'Web 2.0' look and feel, or maybe even something very clean and streamlined like the Home site was for GT5. I know that in some cases ( for Web 2.0 ) this means script intensive changes for some areas but in my opinion I don't think a lot would really have to change ( compared to writing a whole new site ). Just a new 'coat of paint', and maybe a few 'mods'. I do know that there will have to be a whole new section to the site created for GT5, so that would have to take place. The manner in which the site allows you to post tunes and and displays them is great, better than anything I have currently run across on-line, that in my opinion should be carried over to the next version. Maybe a few areas for new aspects to the new GT5, like possibly an area where people could communicate/organize for on-line competitions, or whatever else is new for GT5 ( don't currently have it.. just going by what I have read and heard thus far ).
Yeah, at BARE minimum I hope to see the site stay around.. and bring itself into the new GT5.

I've been thinking about this for a while now and I can't really think of anything new, but I'm more of an analyzer than an inventor.
As far as Im concerned, the standard that has been set with GtVault is all that I can ask for in the future. The only one thing that has ever given me grief is editing posts. The edit button jumps to other people's usernames, and you are unable to edit posts. This is reset by creating a new post, but defeats the purpose of editing posts. This issue always resolves itself, but after an unspecified period of time. I guess that happens when 5 people post in an hour...
So far MarkusXO has the right idea, a face-lift for a GT5 section, and an online competition/tuner challenge section.
Once again, great job Kerr. GtVault IS the best

Gran turismo 5
Coverage of new news on Gran Turismo 5 would really good to have.
Maybe some support for gran turismo and gran turismo 2, kind of the same support we have for gran turismo 3 and gran turismo 4.

GT3
a place to clarify stability/ trac contol settings, because there is 2 places in which to change. the one that is already on the cars tune page, and another on the options page with the auto/manual trans setting. they really do seem to have a broad change in overall aspect and or "feel" of the car. gt3 seems to unfairly favor controller play over wheel/pedal. here of late i have been using the trac/stab on in the options menu and off in the car when using the wheel. go fast turn left, and somtimes right -G oh and possibly pictures of hot, half naked chicks posed in front of each car, or on each car leading its bio..........

Gtvault
Can't think of anything new if im honest but like somebody else said a forum for GTvault members would be a nice edition provided by PHPBB? Would be useful for discussions for OLR meets and talking about other games and consoles ect ect.

Personally, I think a forum would be a bad idea. GTVault, for me, has always been about the setups. Is there room for improvement? Naturally. A new coat of paint and some turning of the screws here and there are to be expected. I don't think radical, wholesale changes for the sake of change are necessary.
This had nothing to do with what you think, if you even think at all.

Ne0nDrag0n - I tend to agree. I think there's something to be said for an almost 10 year old website, still serving its intended purpose well, and not having a traditional forum. I look at sites like GTP, and honestly I don't want to get nearly that big. I prefer things to be low maintenance, and a forum is the antithesis of that.
That said, this design is now five years old, and that shows. There are a ton of things I'd like to do, but I just haven't been able to carve out the time to do so.
